SPICE Events are designed to increase contact and networking between WA science teachers and science researchers at UWA and associated SPICE partners (eg the Perth Zoo) and to expose science teachers to exciting new science.

Brian Gaensler Masterclass: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

This special Masterclass will be presented by Bryan Gaensler, astronomer and Professor of Physics at The University of Sydney, and Federation Fellow of the Australian Research Council.

Chilly Science: A polar science workshop for teachers

9.00am - 3.00pm, Thursday 19th November 2009

The workshop features a special two hour teachers session with POLAR-PALOOZA scientists, as well as presentations from leading UWA researchers.

Science Education in the 21st Century: Using the methods of science to teach science - A workshop with Nobel Laureate Carl Wieman and scientist Sarah Gilbert

10.30am - 4.30pm, Monday 7th December 2009

This special, invitation only workshop will be presented by Dr Carl Wieman and Dr Sarah Gilbert from the Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative (CWSEI) at the University of British Columbia.

SPICE is offering ten interested teachers the opportunity to attend this workshop at UWA.
