Becoming a SPICE school
All WA Government schools are invited to become SPICE Schools which offers the following benefits.
As a science teacher in a SPICE school you will be able to:
- participate in SPICE by applying to be a Teacher in Residence;
- participate in the development of teaching and learning resources;
- trial new teaching and learning resources;
- attend funded professional learning opportunities focusing on SPICE resources developed by the SPICE group;
- access many other professional learning opportunities offered by UWA scientists;
- access all resources developed by SPICE;
- be a member of an active community of science teachers and scientists;
- interact with scientists from UWA and related cutting-edge research; and
- access a coordinated UWA network to promote science and careers in science.
As a SPICE school you will be able to:
- gain a reputation for offering modern and interesting science to your students (raising the status of your school in the community);
- promote your science staff as having contemporary knowledge of latest science research and pedagogies (raising the status of science teachers in your school community);
- contact and collaborate with UWA scientists;
- promote science as an interesting and exciting career choice for your students; and
- become part of an on-going, supported network of science teachers and scientists.
