Teaching and learning resources

The development of high quality curriculum resources is a core outcome for the SPICE program. These will be developed by SPICE Teachers in Residence collaborating with UWA scientists and the development team from DUIT Multimedia.

Through associated professional learning activities, the development provides DET science teachers from SPICE schools with the opportunity to examine the construction of the materials, to trial them with their students to gain experience with the strategies and, through reflection, identify and implement on-going school-based action learning.

The resources will:

  • support teachers as they engage students in new and interesting science.
  • be used as exemplars within the professional learning program to help teachers acquire new skills and pedagogy.
  • exemplify best-practice in using technology in the classroom to maximise learning for different students and for different purposes.
  • initially target the new physical science courses for Years 11 and 12.
